Mole Removal by EXCISION!!?!

Question:

Mole Removal by EXCISION!!?

hey im getting 2 moles removed from my face on thursday by excision and im really scared.. they aren't cancerous but i want them removed cus my demetologist said they are irregular and so better to be safe than sorry..

i am really scared because i kno excision will leave a big scar.. i have had the one on my cheek since i was about 3 and the other one came when i was about 10 (i am now16) they are both about the size of a circumference of a pencil.. what i am really afraid of is the size of THE SCARS..i am really self-conscious as it is and fear if he leaves 2 big scars i wil be even worse!!

could someone please tell me how big these scars will be.. how long the stitches will be in for and how long the wounds will take to heal after this???? and also could you talk me through the procedure of excision step by step

i kno this is asking a lot but i am really really scared about it and need some1 to put my mind at ease!!

please help!!

Answers:

I had one removed on my forearm for biopsy. I can't comment on the scar that left because I did not get favorable results from the biopsy (which I could tell just by looking at the thing) and they left the stitches in to mark the spot for the wide angle excision. But...with the initial procedure, they essentially made an incision no bigger than the mole itself. There was minimal pain (they shot it up with an anesthetic which totally numbed the area) and just cut that itty bitty piece out. I have seen other people who have had it done and the scars have been very faint. I also saw a young girl go through that (and her results were fine) on one of those discovery shows over the weekend and it was just a tiny thing.
