Are electrical massagers bad for you?!

Question:

Are electrical massagers bad for you?

I bought a massager that has pads that you attach to your body, and it sends electrical signals that make your muscles contract. Supposedly that has the same effect as a massage, and it seems to work well and I like it. But since it's sending electricity through your body, I am wondering if it's bad for you.

For example, if I use it an hour each day, would there be health consequences down the line? Any thoughts on this?

Answers:

The testing that has been done shows no long term bad health effects from such a device for the average person, but there are some anecdotal indications that rare individuals may be affected. Personally, I consider such devices a waste of time, and I find greater benefit from exercising.
