Brain Cells?!

Question:

Brain Cells?

I was doing some research and I came across some infomation that, when you are still growing, you grow more brain cells, and when you get to the stage of you stop growing, your brain cells stop growing..

Is this true?

Answers:

There are two major types of brain cells, neural cells and glial cells. Glial cells can proliferate after birth but most of neural cells can not. But neural cells extend projections and make connections each other after birth. In the childhood, neural cells make much more connections than needed, and then eliminate unnecessary ones, which underlies child's high learning capability. But even in adults, neural cells have an ability to make new connections for learning novel things.

So most of neural cells in the brain don't proliferate but have a life-time ability to establish new networks for learning.
