White splotches after being in the sun... allergy?!


Question:

White splotches after being in the sun... allergy?

my son has always had sensitive skin... but this year i noticed when he gets reddened or tanned from the sun even just a little he gets white splotches in it... you kinda have to know what your looking for it isnt REALLY noticable... but you can clearly see it if you know what your looking for... could it be a allergy to the sun... i know people can be allergic to the sun.. but i dont know the symptoms...

he also gets red splotches too... the white are more of his normal color but look light next to being tan or red.... he did have a light amount of sunblock on his face...after putting it on his arms and back ect... i just lightly rubbed my hands over his face with what was left over.... hmmmm....it could be the sunblock ......

Could it be from sunblock? Some sunblocks have interesting ingredients in them, and maybe your son is sensitive to one of them. I reacted to a zinc product in a sunblock, one time. It caused itching and a rash-like problem for me, in particular. If your son has any type of scarring, that would be an area that would not tan very well. Perhaps the scars from chicken pox may produce little white patches of untanned skin. If the patches are really little blisters, then maybe he is getting too much sun.
