I need surgery and don't have insurance. What do I do?!

Question:

I need surgery and don't have insurance. What do I do?

I have an umbilical hernia and need surger to fix it. However, I do not have insurance, as I am currently unemployed. What should I do?

Answers:

Are there any hospitals or medical places near you that take uninsured people? I wonder if you contacted charities in your community (like St. Vincent dePaul or Salvation Army) and see if they know what you can do. Often charities are associated with local churches, and have offices that give grocery and gas vouchers, help with gas and electric bills--things like that--they'd hopefully know what you could do. Good luck to you!
