Is it possible for my child to be a b positive blood type when both parents are !
Question:
Is it possible for my child to be a b positive blood type when both parents are a o positive?
Answers:
No, it is impossible - if both parents are O+ than the child must also be O+.
Obviously the mother is O+ and the child is B+, therefore the father could only be B or AB, either + or - because + is dominant.
Edit - TO 1M9, you are correct in saying that there are 2 alleles in the ABO system, but both parents were OO, if a person is BO we just call it B+ or -. So if both parents were BO than the child would be either B or O, but in this case it is stated that both parents are O+, so both their alleles would be O. Both parents would be OO and OO so the child would have no choice but to also be OO. If a person had the alleles BO than there blood type is B not O as B is dominent. I hope that wasn't confusing :P
