Question:

If someone is iron deficient, what are the symptoms? How do we understand if someone is iron deficient?

except the test results. Does someone feel tired etc.?

Answers:

Tired, turns red a lot--especially in the face, gets dizzy when they stand up sometimes, head hurts, makes more mistakes than usual, slower than usual, wants to eat different things such as potato skins and ice. Everything hurts and feels as if it's not getting enough oxygen to make it move properly without hurting.

I've also read someplace one time that you can tell by looking at their fingernails. If they are spatulate and moderately ridged, weak, the person is very likely iron deficient. I forgot to say the nails also curve , like the nail beds are very curled. You'll get bruises easily and not know why too.
