Dizzy spells?!

Question:

Dizzy spells?

Sometimes when I get up from lying or sitting I have a dizzy spell and I feel like I'm going to faint. It's often accompanied by smell of blood in my nose, although my nose doesn't bleed. I've also been feeling really tired for the last few weeks. What could be wrong?

Answers:

It is not uncommon to experience dizziness after lying or sitting. If we get up too fast from such positions, dizziness can occur. It best to rise slowly. For example, if you're changing from a lying position to a sitting position, stay in the sitting position for about 3-4 mins. before you stand up. You may have" Postural Hypotension" which, basically, means that when you change positions, your blood pressure lowers. Are you on any medications?? Certain meds can have this side effect. Are you eating properly, drinking plenty of fluids, especially water??Are you experiencing headaches?? Vision changes?? Ringing in the ears( tinnitus) ? You could also have anemia ( " low blood"). I'm not sure as to why you smell blood. Are you male or female?? If female, it your period(s) heavy?? Anemia will cause a person to tire easily and experience dizziness. There may be more than one thing occurring at the same time.
