Well Water Smells like Urine?
My daughter has just rented a house. They are on well water. The house sat empty for several months before they moved in.
Should she have the water tested? Is this normal, after sitting for a long period of time? Please....If you know anything about this subject or know which category I should go to I would appreciate your help.

If well water hasn't been used for a while, sometimes it gets stagnant. Depending on the size of the well, for the normal size, I suggest you put a gallon of clorox in it and run it until the smell gets out. I have a deep well on my property that my renters use, and when they moved in, I told them to do this and it worked fine. Wells should be shocked by this method every so often, denending on the location. I guess you could use pool chlorine for the same purpose but would be more expensive. When my well was originally drilled this method was used by the driller to sanitize the well. Hope this helps you.
