Does popping your knuckles really cause arthritus???!

Question:

Does popping your knuckles really cause arthritus???

I've been told for a long time that it DOES, but i just read an article that says it DOESNT. I'm not sure how reliable the article was though, so i'm just wondering if any of you KNOW whether or not it does.

I pop my knuckles, and i was wondering also if you know how i can stop...i mean, besides "well just dont pop them any more." I've tried before, and they get really sore if i dont pop them, and eventually it gets hard, and also very painful, to do anything with my hands, like writing. Are there any vitamins that would make it not so painful to stop? Basically if you know ANYTHING that would help, put it here for some points...thanks! (I'm 15 by the way)

Answers:

i have no medical research to give you here.. but here is my experience. i have been a frequent popper of anything pops.

I have arthritis in my knees, and i probably pop those the least, but they do bother me more than any others to be popped. however the arthritis was caused from dancing, not popping.

i pop my wrists in the morning and of them hurt really bad for a bout 6 months, just finally stopped. not sure what happened there, but it wasn't nice. now its back to normal.

i used to crack my neck and back alot. this made the bones need to be cracked more frequently, and caused alot of lower back pain. now i only crack my back when i really need to, and its much better. neck is the same. you aren't being very nice to the bones, and the last thing you want to grind down are the bones in your neck!

lastly.. my fingers. i used to do it alot more then i do now. but i still do it when no one's looking of listening, and i've never had any problems with them. sometimes when ive been typing they ache ALOT until i pop them and then they are all better.
