OSHA question?!

Question:

OSHA question?

I work in construction and at times constantly have all these loud beeps going off around me to tell me that someone is either backing up, lifting something, or just doing something else that may be damaging to me. That might have been fine at the beginning, but now it's almost like I block them out mentally because I hear them so often. Should OSHA relax a little bit on all their regulations? - not only this but the other ones as well?

Answers:

I don't know. Ask someone who's been squished to death by a piece of heavy equipment.

OSHA's rules are ALREADY relaxed. Industry has lobbied hard to keep good rules from being implemented. You employer likely pays lower worker's comp. insurance because of the lower accident rate that OSHA's rules help to enforce. So, employers win, you win (you get to go home at night), and your family wins. Sometimes safety is a pain, but I bet you wouldn't want to work construction 50 years ago with the lack of regulations they had back then.
