Question:

Why is the WHO Expanded Program on Immunization called "Expanded"?

Why was it considered Expanded? What was the original coverage of the program of immunization so that it is now considered expanded? Why did that term expanded in EPI came about?

Answers:

From what I have read it is to extend the wide ranging benefits of immunization to a larger group of children in many countries.
