Why is it...?!

Question:

Why is it...?

i have a full blown cold right now, non-stop cough, body aches, and sinus pressure.. my question , every time i have a cold i always get horrible sinus pressure, and in a day or two its followed by non-stop nose drippage, i could swear i use at least two kleenex boxes a day. its horrible, i was just wondering, why is it? why is there so much mucus, why does the body produce soo much, what is it supposed to do?? does anyone kno a website that explains this , i just would like to understand the human body more.
please and thank you.

Answers:

Snot is good - you'd be alot more unwell if you didnt have plenty of snot.

It helps prevent more infection getting into your body and also expels it!!!

But eating less dairy products can help reduce the amount of snot you produce.

I havent looked, but maybe try Wikipedia for a source of information.
