Ok i was looking at my feet this morning and on the side of my left foot only i have lots of big blue vains, they look like varicose vains and there must be about 10. I also have lots of purple thread vains on there and i must say i am quite embarassed by them. So my questions are how would i have got them and how could i get rid of them?? Thank you in advance.

only way to get rid of them would be to have them surgically removed. they literally strip the offending vein out. (ouch). you can get it done on the NHS, if they are causing medical problems, like pain, or swelling.
as someone else mentioned, u get them by standing for long periods of time.... the valves that help push the blood back up the veins weaken over time, and cause the veins to bulge and the blood to pool in areas like the feet and legs. pregnancy can also make them worse. i was fine until i was pregnant. by the time i was full term, i had swollen ankles and feet, and varicose veins in my left leg. (but not my right, for some odd reason ! lol)
