Long flight precautions?!

Question:

Long flight precautions?

My parents will be flying over for my graduation and they'd be spending +10 hours on the plane.and I'm so worried they will get the economy class syndrome.
I heard that taking an aspirin before flying would help but aspirin is bad for stomach isn't it?
Does anyone know any tips on this?
Thanks for helping~

Answers:

Heya,

I am currently studying to be cabin crew and the best precautions to take before hand are to purely:

1) Eat a normal breakfast, dont skip any meals.
2) Keep hydrated before, during and after the flight (this is the ONE key main point to make sure of - as this will be prevention of all types of illnesses)
3) Get a good nights sleep before hand, or encourage them to sleep on the plane.

The other thing is, whilst on the plane - senior passengers such as your parents perhaps are proned to sitting with their legs crossed and sitting still - this is bad, they must keep moving about the cabin during flight as this prevents DVT (deep vain thrombosis - common in older people), this can be avoided by the movement of the ankles whilst sitting down or walking up and down the aisles whilst safe to do so, this all helps to keep the blood circulating around the body.

Last but not least, if they are worried about carrying and paracetamol on board, they shouldent be and all aircraft carry paracetamol onboard and will give it to you aslong as it has'nt already been consumed in the last 2 hours.

I hope this helps,

And congratulations on your graduation.
