What happens at the doctors office when?

Well i haven't been myself lately..i think i might have depression..i did some research and i have a lot of the symptoms...Ive decided to see a doctor about it but i would like to know what happens...once im at the doctors office...will he ask me questions...i mean how will he find out if i really do have depression......and if it turns out that i am suffering from depression what happens next?

Good that you're seeing your doctor to ask about what you've been experiencing. He will indeed ask you questions - doesn't take very many - and he might prescribe a low dose of an anti-depressant like Paxil or Zoloft, and he'll ask you to come see him again in a month, maybe. After that, he'll assess you again and might refer you to a psychologist, psychiatrist, or neurologist.

The big issue will be whether you have depression that is situational or biochemical. The latter, believe it or not, is often easier to treat.

Whatever he does, ASK QUESTIONS. Don't take everything he says as gospel, but do listen to him.

[ADDED] After looking at other answers, I just want to add this - unless there's something you aren't telling us, your doc will NOT commit you to a hospital. That's ridiculous, given what you've described.
