i get this thing where wenever i yawn, everything gets louder. i get it but my mum and dad dont. do you get it or am i the only one? if you do get it, why does it happen?

Answers:

Yes I get it to. When you yawn it opens the Eustachian tubes which lead from the back of the nose to the inner ear (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/eustachian_...

The point of these tubes is to allow the air pressure in the ear to equalise itself with its surroundings. This is why your ears pop on aeroplanes. It is the air pressure equalising.

When the pressure in the ear is not equalised, it forces against the ear drum, thus stopping it from vibrating as it should when it detects sounds. You become used to this diminished hearing til you yawn or open your mouth wide.

This opens the Eustachian tubs, equalises the pressure and allows the ear drum to work correctly. This appears as "better" hearing, but is in fact what it should be!
