Would drinking urine HYDRATE you at all?!

Question:

Would drinking urine HYDRATE you at all?

Say you were.. I don't know.. unable, for some reason, to obtain any fluids what so ever, but you, for some reason, had a cup and the urge to urinate.

If you were extremely dehydrated and on the verge of death, if you drank said urine... would it help at all?

Yes, far fetched.. But a survival question that is interesting.

Please do not answer because you *think* you are right. It really irritates me when someone assumes they know what they're talking about.. Like those women that say pregnancy blood tests are 100% accurate like you know what you're talking about.. Yeah.. You people just piss me off.. And you should know I'm stalking you and lacing all your food with heroin so you will slowly become addicted and then when I suddenly cut you off you will go through withdrawls! PS- You're no better than your neighbor!

Erg.. Right.. Does drinking urine hydrate you at all?

Answers:

I'm actually reading a survival book right now called "The SAS Survival Handbook." It says that drinking urine straight up is dangerous, but you can distill out the water and drink that. Urine (just like sea water) does contain water, but it also has a high concentration of things that are unsafe to drink, like ammonia and bacteria (that'd be salt in the case of sea water).

According to this book, you can distill your urine if you can light a fire and have two makeshift containers, some kind of tube, and something to cover one of the containers (like a plastic bag). You put your urine in one of the containers, insert the tube, and cover the top of the container. Put the other end of the tube in the other container. The water in the urine will evaporate, leaving the undrinkable elements behind. It will travel up the tube and the condensation will run into the other container. This method also works for salt water.
