How can I gain weight w/ no appetite..cancer?!

Question:

How can I gain weight w/ no appetite..cancer?

I am trying to find a safe and effective way to put on weight in a fairly short period of time. I would like to gain a minimum of 10 pounds in 2 months.
Here's the problem:
I have had a rare form of cancer for over 20 years now, The type of Timor is a Gastronoma. I have multiple metastaces on and throughout my liver. This causes pain, for which I take a heavy Narcotic called dilaudid. I know the pain meds affect my appetite, but I can not just stop taking them. I know I would feel better if I could gain just a little. My biggest problem is that just when I begin to gain, I have problems that preclude me from keeping it on. I may gain 5 pounds, then get sick a month later and then I end up losing 7. I keep losing more than I gain. How can I increase my appetite, without using pot, and how can I gain at the same time.
Thank You.

I noticed a few of your answers. Please note: I don't just have no appetite, I have zero desire to eat. Nothing tastes good. It's difficult to explain fully.

I also can not eat dairy.
I also have an esophageal stricture which prevents me from swallowing anything smaller in diameter than a soda straw or pencil.

Note: I have no issue with pot, It's just not effective. I've tried the medical stuff, which is in pill form only in my state, and I've smoked it. Smoking worked for a while, but after a while, I no longer got the "munchies" and I can't really afford it anyways.

Answers:

Try swimming in a non-heated pool, the exercise builds up muscles, and the cold water makes the body build up a layer of fat under the skin to prevent calorie loss.

To improve appetite for AIDS and cancer patients I have read of progesterone being used, but honestly, if you live in a place like California or Alaska then marijuana (orally) from a valid doctors prescription is the cheapest way to go.

Progesterones (megace comes to mind but I am going on memory) adds a complexity of hormonal effects that I would be leary of. This is an issue your between you and your doctor.

There are synthetic pot analogs that are C-II drugs available in all states in the union that doctors can write for appetite and nausea, but the cost is outrageous and of no more effectiveness.
