At what average age do teenage boys have their last 'major' growth spurt, height!

Question:

At what average age do teenage boys have their last 'major' growth spurt, height-wise?

Maybe a teen boy on here can answer whether he's had a recent growth spurt and at what age......my son is 14, will be 15 in Sep and wondering if he'll grow any taller. His dad is 6' and I am 5'6".

Answers:

There is no way to predict growth spurts and they occur at different times for different people. Your son is only 14. He isn't even close to being done growing yet!

Height is predetermined by genetics. It can be stunted by improper diet or some illnesses but there is nothing that can be done to be taller without medical intervention. A doctor will not intervene unless the child will be of greatly less than normal height. A male will continue to grow until age 21. So, you will not know your son's final height until he reaches the age of 21.

BTW, if your son is seen by a pediatrician for routine care, chances are you can get an estimate of his final height. Most pediatricians will measure a child's femur at the age of 2 and can predict adult height from this measurement. So, next time you see the pediatrician, ask.
