Does popping and cracking your joints cause arthritis?!

Question:

Does popping and cracking your joints cause arthritis?

I can, and frequently do, pop most of the joints in my body (shoulders, neck, elbows, wrists, hands, fingers, back, knees, ankles, feet and toes...) I occasionally experience pain, especially in my fingers, while popping and I wonder if this is from doing it too frequently, and if it can cause any permanent damage. I have heard that while the popping itself doesn't cause damage, the constant pulling and stretching of the cartilage can weaken joints over time.

Answers:

This is highly controversial, Most scientists say no.
