I have a everlasting cough? Helpp?!

Question:

I have a everlasting cough? Helpp?

Ok, i have had this cough for a few weeks. i had antibiotics, but my cough isnt going away, and the medicine is all gone. Besides saying go to the doctor, i wanna know if theres something wrong with me because i cant cough for more than 4 times and im choking to death. So, besides saying go to the doctor ( i already know that so why waste 5 points if all your gonna say is that) so is there any help ??? has this happened to anyone before after the previous medicine was all gone??

Answers:

Given that you were taking antibiotics, you no doubt had a bacterial infection causing bronchitis. Sometimes antibiotic therapy is a hit and miss thing. If your Doctor didn't give you a broad spectrum antibiotic, the one you took may not have targeted that particular strain of bacteria. That's one reason why you're still coughing. Another is, perhaps it was the right drug but if your immune system is lowered for whatever reason, the medicine may not have been taken long enough.
If a person has the right drug and it's taken for the right length of time, it's highly effective. Now, there's one other explanation. You may have had the right drug, taken it for the right duration, yet you still have a little phlegm remaining in your lungs. It's possible the infection is cleared up and that you are still coughing out the remaining bit of fluid left in your lungs. Check the color of the phlegm you're coughing up. Is it clear? If so, there's nothing to worry about, you should get over it. If it's yellowish or greenish, your infection probably was not cleared up. At any rate, you might wait for a week and see if it clears. If if doesn't, you'll have no other choice but to revisit your Doctor for another course of antibiotics. He or she would probably give you something stronger the next time around. Hope this helps!
