But once you come off the medication slowly, is the imbalance still there?

Are you cured?
or do you have to take the medication the rest of your life?

Answers:

No! Don't do that! Once you have taken an antidepressant/anti-anxiety medication over a period of time, it is dangerous to suddenly stop taking it. The best thing for you to do is check with your doctor for a medication re-evualtion and he/she will put you on a regimen, Even if you feel like you are "fixed' it's not a good idea to just stop taking it. Depending on how long you have taken the medication, the side effects can be just as unpleasant as the first few days or week when you started taking it.
Reducing the dosages gradually is the best thing to do when stopping the medication. Just like when you first started it, you probably started in smaller dosages and then about after a week , the doctor increased the milligram levels .

I know this because I have years of experience with these things. There are so many types of antidepressant and anti-anxiety medications out there.
Lorazipan (spelling?) is a tranquilizer good for GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) It just depends on what kind of anxiety you suffer from?

A good (natural) calming tranquilizer that you can buy at health food stores is Valerian. It is the natural substance that the chemical Valume is derived from. It promotes sleep.
