Ways to lower cholesterol?!


Question:

Ways to lower cholesterol?

My grandma has high cholesterol and is on the verge of a heart-attack/ stroke and i wanted to know if there were any ways that she can prevent this from happening.

please dont say diet or excersise.
or maybe some foods that can help lower cholesterol or foods that she should avoid.

Answers:

well...she needs to continue her anti cholesterol and blood thinning medication. If she is also having blood pressure problems then anti hypertensive drugs to be taken at all times too.
Additional Omega 3 or 6 fish oils will help too in a long run as they reduces the bad cholesterol ( LDL ) and increases the good ones ( HDL ).
High intakes of green leafy vegetables is good and also whole grains/oats. Have more food cooked in boiled, steamed, stir fry, clear soup style.
Avoid deep fried/oily food, creamy soups, salad dressings, rich desserts or even dairy ones instead go for low fat food in yoghurt,milk,cheese. Cutdown coffee or tea intakes.
Fruits is also good but be careful if she is also diabetic.
At her age moderate exercises is encouraged and does help
in improving blood circulation.
