SMOKERS! Should the NHS treat them?!

Question:

SMOKERS! Should the NHS treat them?

If a smoker suffers a heart attack or such episode of illness their doctor will inevitably tell them to give up. If after being treated the first time they do not give up smoking. Should they be treated on the NHS? I believe not as they are a drain on NHS resources and could have avoided the second episode of illness by giving up. It is selfish not to give up and then expect to be teated on the NHS while other genuine people are ill due to no fault of their own are waiting on endless waitng lists!

Answers:

i am a smoker and if i had been given advice by a doctor following something that effected me personally, then i wouldnt expect treatment within the nhs,i smoke and therfore i will suffer im sure!but i will never add to the strain that the nhs is under just because of my own selfish addiction...(im an ex paramedic by the way)
