Anna Nicole Smith and Drug Intoxication?!

Question:

Anna Nicole Smith and Drug Intoxication?

I know that Anna Nicole died of Acute Drug Intoxication brought on by Chloral Hydrate. I saw the list of drugs on her autopsy report and I did not recognize some of the names. What I am wanting to know is what kind of effect did these drugs have on her system to cause her death. I know that it was a combination, but looking at it from a scientific view, what happened within the body?

This question is not specific to Anna Nicole Smith, I just used her for an example. I am wanting to know from a medical point of view. What are the sequence of events go on inside the body leads to a death like Anna Nicole. I heard it suppresses the CNS, but what else.

Please do not submit immature, sarcastic answers like the very first answer to this question.

Answers:

Ok... She was taking a lot of medications that dealt with her depression and many of them treated the same things (they were within the same classification). She was seeing several different doctors and she wasn't being honest with them so she was taking several medications from several doctors (definitely not a good thing). She didn't know that taking the drugs simultaneously was not a good thing. Those drugs, even though they all were within the therapeutic range, they don't work well together in the body. Her liver could only metabolize so much. Main point is, she shouldn't have taken so many medications at once for the same medical diagnosis, thats not safe and can lead to death by means of respiratory or cardiac arrest. If she was honest by telling the doctors that those meds weren't working (instead of getting more and different kinds) then she would have been alive today. This was a learning lesson and hopefully the medical profession will see that the public needs to educated on medication administration.
