Ear Candle problem?!

Question:

Ear Candle problem?

Last night I tried ear candling for the first time after a reccomendation from a friend. Upon doing the second candle in the second ear, I suddenly heard this loud pop in my ear and it felt as though there was fire in my canal. I don't know if the candle was pushed in to far or if an ash had fallen into the candle an in my ear. Anyway, last night it hurt and today it just feels blocked, almost like swimmer's ear. Could this be burst eardrum? Any suggestions and what should I do. Also, please don't tell me see my doctor I know that, I can get in until Friday! :) Thanks!!

Ear candling is a technique used to remove ear wax that is built up in your canal. It is suppose to helps symptoms such as stuffiness, headaches, etc. the procedure is easy and usually safe, but like many holistic or natural ways of relief, doctors frown upon it. So that is what it is for all you people asking. And before you go calling people a moron, do a little reseach, the technique is practiced by thousands. Honestly, anything you do on your own, can lead to a problem or side effect, god you can cut your fingernail to short and bleed, you can clean you ear and get a problem, so calm down and don't just post for the sake of posing.

Doctor had a cancellation today and I just got back, it ended up being that the candle was melting to fast and the wax didn't have a chance to get to the canal. Therefore a large piece of candle wax it jammed in the ear. Some suction and drops and it was all better. By the way the doctor didn't advice not to do the waxing, just monitor very closely or go to a spa that does it.

Answers:

well, you should have went to a holistic professional for the ear candling. i am sorry to hear you did it yourself and had an inauspicious experience. ear candling CAN be pleasant; it is usually more comfortable and effective than ear canal irrigation done at the doctor.

i don't know what you did wrong, or what happened to you. best to just wait now until your doctor appointment. unless your symptoms go away, then just cancel.
