TO ALL LPN'S -- What would I be doing, will I be touching people much?!

Question:

TO ALL LPN'S -- What would I be doing, will I be touching people much?

There are so many adds in the paper for LPN's...

I want to know what this person does, exactly. I like people, I don't like touching body fluids, I have never had any desire to become a nurse.

I do love helping people! I am a mom, I can handle a little ick.

I dont mind touching arms, shoulders etc.... clothed parts are ok...

Thanks so much in advance....

Answers:

LPNs are at the bottom of the totem pole for nurses. So, of course you're going to be doing all the dirty work. You WILL be handling and cleaning bodily fluids. You WILL have to touch and clean parts of the body that aren't clothed.

It's a burnout career but rewarding. I don't want to discourage you but you don't seem like a good candidate for nursing. Many people enter the field unaware of what it entails and quickly leaves. I advise you to become a certified nursing assistant before you become an LPN to get use to all the dirty work. If you can't handle that then you will not be able to handle it and you could leave with only a months time invested instead of a whole year invested in the education.
