Lightheaded?!

Question:

Lightheaded?

Whenever I wake up in the morning and get out of bed, or stand up after sitting for a long time, or whenever I stop doing any physical activity I feel lightheaded. I first noticed this about a year ago when I started taking cheerleading. Whenever I would take a waterbreak or finnish a cheer I would sometimes get lightheaded. I thought it was just that I was dehydrated, but now i get the lightheaded feeling much more often, and when I'm not doing anything physical. It only lasts for few seconds and I don't think that it is anything serious. I'm a 14 year old girl by the way. Does anyone have any ideas what it might be?Should I see a Doctor?

Answers:

That's called orthostatic hypotension and everyone gets it from time to time. It happens when you get up to fast from sitting or laying down and the blood flow isn't getting to your brain quick enough so that's why you feel light headed etc.
