Lower Back Pain?!

Question:

Lower Back Pain?

I was playing basketball the other day, felt fine the whole time I was playing, but afterwards started getting pain in lower back. Its the second day now and the pain is still there. It doesn't really hurt to bend back, it just keeps me from standing straight up. It kinda keeps me hunched forwards. I have had problems with lower back pain before. The closest thing I can compare it to is sometimes when I stand up (rare) after sitting for awhile I can't standu completely straight, but I am able to walk that off in just a minute or two. Also, my lower back feels swollen, if that helps at all. Anyone know what is going on and how long it will last?

Answers:

My husband and daughter have this problem occasionally.

First take Ibuprofen to help the swelling and inflammation. Two every 4 or 5 hours to help get the swelling down. You can put cold gel packs on it also.

Lay on the floor and lay your calves up on a foot stool or across the coffee table. This will open up the vertebrae in you lower back. It sounds like you have a pinched nerve.
Give yourself 15 to 30 minutes in this position each time.

To sleep at night take thick sofa cushions and put them in the same position so your legs stay in the L shape. This will keep those vertebrae open for hours and allow the nerve to hopefully be "unpinched". This really will work for you . But it may take a few nights.

Sit on hard chairs during the daytime, no slouching. My daughter drives sitting on a square upholstered board in her car seat to relieve the pain.

Good Luck.
