Swollen lymph node in neck for 7 years, any alternatives to surgery?!

Question:

Swollen lymph node in neck for 7 years, any alternatives to surgery?

Hello,

I've had a swollen lymph node on the right hand side of my neck for about 7 years now. I have been to a few doctors, most said not to worry and it would go away with time, but it obviously has not. My current doctor is fascinated by it, and has done some scans on it, and it is definitely a lymph node, and it has blood running through it, which she said means it's working. She wants to run blood tests on it, and surgically remove it. She is not at all concerned about it being cancerous, as she said if it was something bad it would have killed me by now.

So, I would like to avoid surgery by all means because i'm quite attached to my body parts. The other reason is, if i do not treat the cause, wouldn't it surely come back? Are there any alternative ways to help a lymph node to shrink to a regular size? Has anyone had this problem and tried Chinese therapy or natural therapies? Any advice?

Thank you in advance!

Answers:

The procedure is a simple nodectomy. there should be no complications, and it should not be a painfull procedure.

I would take the advice of your doctor. It could decide to change into something more threatening with time.
