Shoulder Surgery Questions?!

Question:

Shoulder Surgery Questions?

Ok so in 2 days I'm getting surgery on my right shoulder to fix my Multi-directional Instability. I have some questions regarding the surgery.
1. How soon should i stop eating/drinking before my surgery?
2. What clothing should i wear to the surgery (outpatient)?
3. What clothing should i wear home from the surgery?
4. What are some tips for sleeping after the surgery?
5. How do i shower after having this surgery?

now i'm only 15 and i have 2 months of summer break untill school starts again.

Answers:

1). Stop smoking at least 2 weeks before the surgery. Stop eating/drinking at least 12 hours before the surgery.
2&3). Since you are getting surgery on your shoulder, I would wear something that does NOT have to be pulled over your head. A button down that is too big for you will work, you will have a lot of swelling and bandages on the shoulder. You will wear the same clothes in to the hospital and out of the hospital.
4). You will not have to worry about sleeping after the surgery. Your body will need plenty of rest in order to heal, plus, you will get some pain medicine that will probably make you sleepy.
5). The doctor will tell you when you will be able to shower. It depends on the actual procedure he/she does. You will have plenty of follow ups after the surgery to discuss this.
