Internal bleeding for years?!

Question:

Internal bleeding for years?

Quick questions: my doctor suspects genetic anemia (thal minor) as a cause for my anemia. I've been anemic forever.

Since there is no specific test for genetic anemia, it's more like a process of elimination with tests for other resons (specific nutrient deficiencies, from heavy blood loss from period, etc., etc.).

Now I've had /every/ test done, except for a test for internal bleeding (a blood in stool test).

My question is: if I've had anemia for years.... then internal bleeding couldn't have been the cause of it, right? I'd have to have been bleeding for years then.

I still plan on going for the final test, regardless... but I was just curious if there was such a case.

Answers:

You may have been bleeding for years. You could have something like esophogeal erosion that you didn't know you had. This is what was causing my dads blood loss and anemia but he never new till the found it.
