Does drinking really help calm your nerves?!

Question:

Does drinking really help calm your nerves?

Like if you almost had a car wreck and you got home and you take a shot of whiskee....does that help you calm down? I just read a question where someone did that....does it really work?

Answers:

In what way do you need to calm your nerves? That's a great way to get yourself addicted! An addicted person will certainly feel calmed by feeding their addiction.
On a more technical note, yes, in the beginning, alcohol helps you feel calm. Later, however, it will stimulate a different part of your brain that actually makes your meaner, not calmer.

There are much better alternatives to helping calm your nerves. There are alternative herbs, self meditation, etc. If you need help calming down to sleep at night, try off the counter Melatonin. Chew one tablet, and you'll be able to go to sleep, no drugs needed.
Good luck!
