Can gaining weight stunt growth?!

Question:

Can gaining weight stunt growth?

im 5'2 and have been since 12years old. i used to be really tall and people would say im tall for my age and that i was going to shoot up to the ceiling but ever since 12 ive been practically the same. i even gained 20pounds and still currently gaining some and i noticed how tall people are alot of times thin so i was wondering if gaining weight is affecting my height and does sleeping alot and drinking milk actually help? ive also heard of hormone pills and stuff, would they work on me if lets say i was like 25 years old? even though i know u stop growing at like 21 or something.

Answers:

Based on my own experience I don't think gaining weight stunts growth. In my own case I was a fat kid in elementary and started junior high at around 225 - 5'4 or so - definitely a bit rotund. By the end of junior high, I was not quite 350 and about 5'9. Then in high school I grew to 6' and 450 pounds. I stopped at 6'. While i did lose weight in college back to 250, when I started my job and married a wife who loves to cook and who loves having a large husband, I grew again, but only in weight. 400 my my mid twenties and 500 by age 30 and now a bit over 550 in my mid 30s. As you can see I am definitely not small but OK on height. Just be sure and stay healthy.
