My dog has been licking her anus area a lot lately and trying to scoot - any ideas for why she does this now?

sounds like she needs her anal glands expressed. you can do this yourself, but its not pretty. the proper way is to insert your pointer finger into the anus and use your thumb to squeeze the area at the 4 and 8 oclock area. i take mine to the vet to avoid an infection. be aware the expressed matter is stool and mucus. have paper towells handy.
