How can I strengthen my nerves?!

Question:

How can I strengthen my nerves?

I've been told I'm psychologically weak. Does that have anything to do with nerves?

Answers:

It could have something to do with nerves. Nerves, confidence, opinions, beliefs, success. Here are a few things that I think can help someone become a psychologically stronger person.

Try doing activities that you know you can succeed in. When you succeed and do well at those activities, you will boost your confidence. If you're struggling with something (a new sport, hard class, new job, etc) and you don't see yourself winning or succeeding, it can really get you down sometimes. Find ways to boost your confidence. Do stuff in your free time that you really enjoy, things you know you're good at, things you know you can succeed in. Get that confidence boost. Then go back, with a stronger and more positive attitude, and try those difficult things again.

You can think about all the things about yourself that you like. Physical things, mental things, scholastic things, etc. Then, think about a few of the things you don't like about yourself. Maybe you wish you were better at math, more well spoken, more muscular. Out of those things that you don't like about yourself, there may be some that you can't change, that you have no control over. However, there are probably some that you do have control over. See what you can do to improve on those things. Consider youself, your flaws, as a project, and improve them. Maybe get a math tutor, take a public speaking class, or start lifting weights. Even if you just take two or three things about yourself that you didn't care for, and you change them, then you'll feel better about yourself, and be stronger.

You should have strong opinions, and know what you believe in. Don't like something or believe in something just because your friends or family or tv show or magazine or teacher tells you to. Watch the news, read the paper, read books, read magazines, and make up your own mind. It's ok if a trend (in music, clothing, politics, etc) comes up and you don't like it or you disagree with it. You should know what YOU like and make your own style and opinions. That will make you a stronger person.
