Pain in my middle back, right below the ribcage, sometimes abdominal pain. what !

Question:

Pain in my middle back, right below the ribcage, sometimes abdominal pain. what could this be?

Ok to start this off with I've been having a back pain right below the ribcage for about 2 years every time I'd wake up after sleeping over 8 hours. In about 20 mins the pain would go away so I didnt pay much attention to it. About a month ago it became almost constant and even at a day time I'd have it for 5 hours out of 12 or so but it'd leave and come back again, after eating, before eating or even at the mealtime. My friend told me it could be kindneys and he got me worried so I went to the doctor and he said it was a stomach ulcer after touching my stomach in like 4 different spots and inspecting me for less than a minute. He prescribed pepcid which i was supposed to take for 2 weeks. After a week of taking it the pain went away for 2 days but then on day 11 it suddenly came back even though i was on meds and it was even worse. I stopped taking the meds since i did not even have symptoms of stomach ulcer and now in addition to back pain I got pain in upper left abdomen

It is where pancreas is I guess. I tried pressing on my stomach and there's no pain in top middle part where the stomach is or in the liver area. If i press on the area where i actually am having pain it doesn't hurt either. It's really weird. The only thing that seems to help is a hot bath. takes the pain away for 2-3 days. could this be my muscles or is it something more serious? I'd go to another doctor but my pockets are not full of money to spend it on idiots who don't know what they are doing and perform experiments on me by giving me wrong meds. my condition already worsened by taking pepcid.

Answers:

This sounds like it could be a gall stone to me. Get a sonagram to be sure. And see another doctor. If it is serious, you need proper care, and if your doc isn't giving it to you then go somewhere else. Your life may depend on it. Not trying to scare you, but you really can't afford to take chances with your health. An endoscope procedure should be able to see if it is really an ulcer or not.
