If I eat beans today, how long will it be before the gases produced by the beans!

This is an ongoing dispute between me and my partner. If I eat food that I know always makes me fart, and I fart after eating it, I always say 'It's because I've eaten brussels, for instance. My partner always says, 'It can't be the brussels that are making you fart, cos it takes 24 hours at least for food to be digested, so the gas that you are farting now, is the gas produced from what you ate yesterday, not today' my answer to this is, then how comes I only ever fart like this when i eat brussels, and i didn't eat any yesterday' my partner's reply is ' the gas from the brussels is pushing old gas out of your system, so the gas that is coming out now is old gas' I know it's a bit strange to row over something so trivial as farting, but it's one of those unresolved disputes from a drunken night a while ago that still lingers, a bit like my farts!!!
appreciate your replies, thanks

There are a lot of different views on that. I have provided a couple of websites below that you can look at.
The time it takes I believe is variable depending on the individual and the type of food you eat. It's not the same for everyone.
Good luck.
