It is not common, but it isn't all that rare, either. Mostly women get it, and it is an "autoimmune" disease, where your body attacks its own tissues.
I'm sorry you have to have a chronic illness. They are never fun, and it makes you worry.
I would suggest looking for an online support group. Just google "scleroderma support" and you should find something, it is good to share your experiences with people who have similar struggles.
