Smoking Ban! Good Or Bad?

How unfair is this ban ?
Did anyone complain about smoke free areas in pubs(HOW ABOUT SMOKE AREAS FOR THE SMOKERS)
Did the MPS stop to think about the knock on effect;people smoking more in that enclosed place called home next to the kids!!!
Its all about peoples health they say ,but if any benefit is seen it could take decades and i much doubt any results will come from all this.
And i am sick of the people who say "dirty habit" ect
I tell you what lets ban it alltogther!! Then when we are all paying an extra £200 a month in taxes, what will they moan about then?
Any views on this subject?

Reading some answers so far I would like to make it clear I dont smoke and would not smoke in front of kids!!
People are missing the point Iam trying to make.
ITS SUPPOSED TO BE A FREE WORLD AND PEOPLE SHOULD CHOOSE WHAT TO DO AND NOT BE TOLD.

I feel sorry for the pub landlords who will be sat on their own in empty pubs. I'm not talking about wine bars but the working men's pubs/clubs where 90% of the customers smoke.
This government has no idea how this policy is going to lose them millions in VAT.
