Could fever cause small white bumps to form on the lips?!

Question:

Could fever cause small white bumps to form on the lips?

My 3 year old ran a high fever off and on for 3 days (101 to 103.5 F) Took her to the emergency room the first night and was told it was a viral infection so they gave her Tylenol and sent her home. Now, there's no more fever but she has painful white bumps or blisters around the inside of her lips. Any ideas how to relieve the pain? She can't eat or drink anything without crying. Nothing unusual as far as food or drink or medication so I don't think it's an allergic reaction

Answers:

The best thing to do would be to take her back to the doctor to have them look at the blisters. It's hard to tell by online descriptions only...it could be fever blisters ( cold sores), ulcers, yeast infection of the mouth, foot and mouth disease ( which can happen in kids)....any number of things. If the blisters were not present when she was first seen by a doctor, then you should take her back so they can best determine exactly what it is.
