I need some information on becoming a CNA?!

Question:

I need some information on becoming a CNA?

My brother is thinking about becoming a CNA. What kind of preparation would be good before he enters a program? Is there a lot of math? Any information on this would be helpful. He has experience as a Care Giver.

Answers:

A CNA or Certified Nurse's Assistant is the entry step for other nurse certifications, and it is the easiest.

No there isn't much math. However there will be a lot of memorization, and understanding of protocol.

Next up from CNA is the LPN. Licenses Practical Nurse. There is a BIG salary difference between a CNA and a LPN. LPN's have more responsibilities are more likely to be employed by a hospital.

RN are Rigistered Nurses. RN's earn very good salaries. There is some math involved, but it's still more about biology.

RN with a BS. Bachelor's in Science. This is still a higher category joining a RN certification and a Bachelor's in Science or BA Bachelor's in Arts. This could be a science major or a business major. It just depends on the goals of the individual.

RN with Masters. a RN with a Master's degree. This could be in several fields. Usually this is for people who are wishing to enter administrative positions in hospitals. It's financially very rewarding.

CNA's will have to know basic human anatomy and some basic college classes, including some math, such as fractions and decimal systems. It will take some study. Hopefully your brother will move up to the LPN shortly. I believe an Associates degree can help with that or some other sort of training like radiology or other technician training. It's very lucrative.
