I need to know what this could be.?!

Question:

I need to know what this could be.?

Sorry this may seem kinda gross. I had a c-section 2 weeks ago today, and haven't been able to have a BM. I had one before I left the hospital when they gave me x lax. But since I've been home I cannot go. I have no urge what-so-ever. I pass gas fine though. I was taking stool softeners thinking that it may help, but it didn't. Then I went to X Lax. About every two to three days I take some. And then I can go a few hours later. The thing is... After about day 2-3 of not going, I start getting gassy, and have severe pains in stomach. Like they make me cry even. And then I take an X Lax, and once I go, I feel fine again. I try off and on to make myself go. (sitting on the toilet for a while and etc.) but I have no luck.

I am just wondering what it could be. The pains feel kinda like gas pains, with real sharp cramps every few minutes. This is my second c-section and I never had any problems before.

Also I have an appointment on Monday. So I don't need to hear that. :) Thanks!!!

There are a few things it could be. Systemic narcotics that you were given to ease discomfort during labor — or that you're taking now for postpartum pain — may be slowing down your digestive system.

• Make an effort to eat high-fiber foods such as whole-grain cereals, whole-grain breads, and fresh fruits and vegetables every day.

• Drink plenty of water — at least six to eight glasses a day. (You'll need even more if you're breastfeeding.) A daily glass of fruit juice — especially prune juice — can be helpful. Some people find that drinking any warm liquid first thing in the morning helps get things moving.

• Go for a walk. Walking may be painful at first, especially if you're recovering from a c-section or an episiotomy, but even a short trip around the block can help kick your sluggish bowels into gear.
