Answers:

Did you have your u/s done IN your doctor's office? Do they have their own u/s machine within the doctor office? If that is the case, they may not have a hard copy of your pictures. U/s images are put on laser (x-ray) film. Many doctor offices do not have the laser printer or the capability of developing images (ie: dark room). It is amazing to me that doctor's offices can charge for a full u/s when they do a quarter of the scanning and documentation that we do at an imaging center.

When you make your appt. with your new doctor, make them aware that you had an u/s done at the old doctor's office. They can call and request the films, if there are any. When we do follow up OB u/s scans in my office, a paper report is generally sufficient for us. All we really need are the measurements so that we can check for interval growth. The only time we request the actual images done at another facility (for OB u/s only), is when an abnormality has been found in the fetus. I would be surprised if you need another ultrasound JUST because the images of the old u/s are not available.
