How do I go about getting a tax ID number for a fundraiser and do I have to register with the state of MI??
My dad was diagnosed with stage 3 gall bladder cancer and unfortunately it has spread to the bone. This procedure he needs will cost over 200,000. and insurance will only pay so much so I am trying to set up and fundraiser/benefit to help with the costs of his treatments. I have tons of great ideas but I need to make sure that I am following whatever guidelines the state of MI has set. I have to set up and bank account with a tax ID number. I also need this number to give to companies who I have donating large amounts. Any help would be amazing!!!!!! I have read and read and I can't seem to find my answers anywhere. Please help me.

I believe you will be able to use your SSN for your tax ID number unless you set up a separate organization through the State of Michigan.
