Anybody know of a way to avoid getting altitude sickness?!

Question:

Anybody know of a way to avoid getting altitude sickness?

Everytime I go to an elevation higher than 8,000 feet I get sick as a dog....I'm going for the weekend and don't have time to let my body acclimate...Is there any medication I can take to prevent getting sick?
