Mother, 49, had mild stroke (weakness in right arm and leg ..high blood pressure!

Question:

Mother, 49, had mild stroke (weakness in right arm and leg ..high blood pressure) what happens next???

i took her to the ER and they found a little bleeding in her head ..received medication for her blood pressure ..and potassium (level was at 2.5) ..blood pressure went down and then up and down and so on throughout the day ..this morning ..there was no change with her blood pressure routine ..highest it got was 175/106 and lowest it got was about 145/88 ..is this a sign or improvement?? or just the same ?..neurologist said CT scan shows the bleed in a bad position, but wasn't in a location that could affect her speech, memory, etc.. this afternoon her hand got weaker, but could still grip my hand, but not very hard ..MRI was taken but no results yet ..she's taking another CT scan tomorrow ..if scan shows more bleeding ..what's going to happen next?? surgery?? how risky is it?? is recovery long?? will physical therapy help her to use her hand to write?? could the bleeding go away without surgery?? how many days in ICU til her blood pressure is normal?? i'm worried ..she's all i have

Answers:

The bleeding needs to be under control prior to beginning any physical therapy. Starting PT too soon could cause the bleed to worsen or could increase glutamate production which could worsen her symptoms.

If there is still bleeding present, I imagine a neurosurgeon will consult to determine if surgery will be of benefit.
