Which taste cannot be detected by the tip of your tongue: bitter , sour , salty!
Question:
Which taste cannot be detected by the tip of your tongue: bitter , sour , salty , or sweet ? why ?
Answers:
They used to say SWEET., and they have been teaching this in school science textbooks since. But these early ideas saying that specific parts of the tongue are associated with specific taste sensations are mainly a myth. The tongue contains over 10,000 taste buds and a single taste bud is thought to contain 50-100 receptor or taste cells representing all 4 taste sensations (sweet, salty, bitter, and now they have supposedly discovered a fifth called umami). Taste receptor cells are evenly distributed over the tongue.
