Do you think I'm getting enough sleep?!

Question:

Do you think I'm getting enough sleep?

I'm a 13 year old (almost 14 year old) male and I am sometimes tired during the day (like today). I'm very active (play on 2 basketball teams), and I'm fit and even workout. So I'm overall a pretty healthy guy (except i eat a lot of junk food, but i try to get some veggies in my diet). I'm 5'9", 145 lbs, and I've only gained about an inch in the last year. I want to be at least 6'2" when I'm older and I'm thinking not getting enough sleep will cause me to not reach that height. I usually sleep at around 11-12pm and wake up at 6am or so. I want to get more sleep but I can't get to sleep any earlier. But I can sleep during the day (naps) but I heard that I need to be getting my sleep at once to get the most of the sleep. So am I sleeping enough to grow to my fullest potential? If not, what time should I TRY to sleep if I want to wake up at 6am?

Answers:

Sleeping has nothing to do with height. Height is genetic. A teenager needs 7 to 9 hours of sleep everynight. If your tired during the day it may be because of poor eating habits or because you use alot of energy. It can also be because you have the flu or a cold. It can be becuase when you are sleeping you're not in a deep level of sleep. There are 6 levels, I think. Once your past 4.5 you are considered in a deep sleep. If your past 6 you're considered dead. If you're on level 2 it's basiclly your eyes are closed but your mind is still thinking. So try relaxing before bed. Take a long hot shower/bath to help you unwind. It may help.
